Draw for the Flora Fragrance Pack!

My dear lovelies of the Passage,

I, Flora, goddess of Spring, bring you glad tidings! My time has come and I bring the gifts of new life, growth, and tender beauty.

Celebrate me with the flowers of my season: violet, iris, daffodil, lilac, mimosa. These beautiful scented blooms are harbingers and messengers sent to you—a treasure from me, perfumniche.com and Duchesse.

Even after my days have passed, when you wear the scent of these blooms on your wrist, you will always carry my spirit in your heart.

Six divine floral fragrances will come to you in 1ml decant size:

Iris de Nuit by Heeley

- Iris root, wood and Tuscan cypress; clean, sensual, delicate
Blanc Violette by Histoires des Parfums

 - violet; soft and "achingly tender", deliciously subtle
Mon Numero 1 by L'Artisan Parfumeur

 - A mimosa/pear accord over a musk base, shaded in soft greens; sheer and light
Ostara by Penhaligon's

- Daffodil and spring blooms with beeswax for a warm, honeyed depth
After My Own Heart by Ineke

- The experience of lilac: leaves, flowers and stems; romantic and evocative
Balenciaga Paris by Balenciaga

 - Soft violet on an earthy-woody base; quietly elegant and sheer
(Follow links for more complete descriptions.)

Warmly,

Flora

Dear Flora
We look forward to seeing you in N.S. The snowdrops are just starting.
Decants from perfumiche are so much fun. I ordered an awful lot a while ago but was able to experiment and share with friends. With my less than fancy life these days I am back to wearing Voyage by Hermes. Oh and pearls are your favourite but are the considered gemstones hmmmmmmm
Duchesse said…
Laura Jantek: Pearls are considered "gemstones" by gemmologists (if not by mineralogists) even though they are organic, not mineral. You will often see the term "organic gemstone" applied to this subset, which also includes amber and coral. I and others use "gem" to get around the confusing 'stone' business.

Perfumeniche decants make an easy-to-carry gift. I recently gave a friend four decants of her favourite scent and two new ones to try.

Imagine Leonardo da Vinci DRAWing a picture of the Duchesse in her pearls with a look that said she is thinking of nature's lovely scents. Mona Lisa would have some competition. :)

I've just returned to the West Coast where the spring flowers are blooming. If I had my bags unpacked, I would go outside and DRAW them or sketch. I'm always interested in how La Duchesse restyles her favourite pearls.

Oooh, this sounds (and probably) smell delicious! I would love to enter this DRAW. And I think your favorite gemstones are pearls :)

Longtime lurker surfacing for the DRAW!

It's not called Passage des Emeraudes is it? Must be pearls! ;)

What an exciting DRAWing! I've been missing lilacs and their beautiful scent since I moved to the Gulf Coast almost 50 years ago. If I don't win I will have to purchase the set. Promised myself, "No more scents!" but...
Love those pearls, Duchesse, just as you do.
I remain,
Hopeful

I'm in the UK but if I were to win this DRAW I would give the prize to my PEARL of a daughter in law who lives in Canada and has brought my 6 month old grandson to see me this week.

Your insightful writing DRAWs me to this site although I rarely comment. Pearls are your favourite and I love them, too.

Hi Duchesse, we know you well, of course your favourite gem is the pearl! Thank you for giving us all the chance to enter this DRAW - the scents sound delicious!

Hello, and thank you for hosting the DRAW! Favorite gem...let me see...,rubies? jade? No, that's it, PEARLS!

Though I've been enjoying DRAWing while on a trip to Lisbon, I've also enjoyed wearing my favorite Hiram Green fragrances in little travel-friendly decants: Arbol Arbol and Shangri-la. And I've thought of you when seeing beautiful PEARL jewelry, your favorite gem, in this oceanic port!

"...and blossom by blossom, the spring begins."

The trillium and Pulmonaria are blooming on my woodland walk. I wish I could DRAW them, as well as the cherry blossoms on the pathway.

PEARLS, of course!

Here is my comment! Oh, boy! Oh, boy! Oh, boy! Oh, boy! I want them! What a great idea! How wonderful! I’m excited! Oh, boy! Oh, boy! Oh, boy! Wait! It's a DRAW?

DRAW! and PEARLS!
I love love love fragrances and I truly love your blog for introducing me to the beauty of pearls and reworking old jewelry pieces.

How lovely to be included in the DRAW for these scents that sound so perfect for Spring. The artwork included with this post is lovely, perfexct for Spring. Pearls are your favorite (and mine). Thank you for this opportunity.

I always draw so many facts and insights from your posts and continue to be intrigued by the scent information you share. I have even been motivated to remodel my (and your) favorite pearl gems (do I dare say "pearl jams?" )and wonder if you can recommend pearl "remodelers" in the San Francisco Bay Area?Cheers to you for this wonderful chance to experience some new fragrances.

What a beautiful competition. Living in Australia, Spring is still a very long way away and this would help those days DRAW closer by filling the air with at least the scent of spring!
Like you, my favourite gem is the peerless beauty that is the Pearl, my birthstone. The lustre lights up the face of all who wear them, illuminating and enhancing. Unlike all those hard and sparkling gaudy stones like the flashy diamonds, the pearl is a living treasure, made by a mollusc seeking to smooth over the irritation inside it. It reflects this organic element by needing to be worn close to the skin soaking up the body's oils to keep them at their best.

Duchesse, you always draw on your sense of style and humor to create interesting blog posts. You introduced me to Eric Bompard and for that I thank you. Also, you introduced me to the idea that it's OK to take an old family piece and update it and I have recently had that done by a smart and knowledgeable young jeweler in my town. Instead of your favorite, pearls, the piece is made of old diamonds and very soft old emeralds. Thank you for being so much fun.

O please draw my ñame as I just discovered my favorite perfume, Ce Soir ou Jamais, is no longer available. I need a new floral. And Pearls are your fave, mine too!

I am wearing my favorite strand of pearls (the Duchesse's favorite gem as well) as I am getting ready to DRAW my evening bath! I would be so happy to win this lovely prize as our spring weather here could use some help in the fragrance department. Sophie

Thanks for this DRAW.
I'm currently in a land where I hope to find a pearl pendant,
Thanks to you, I wouldn't have thought of it on my own.

Of course, the Duchesse’ favorite gem is the beautiful pearl. DRAW my name and I shall be the prettiest smelling person in this household....though I suppose that is not saying a whole hell of a lot, as the husband does not wear scents. In my part of Northern California, we are enjoying spring in two day spurts followed by days and days of rain. My yard is full of blooming daffodils, so I will try to keep a positive attitude.

Others seem to have beaten me to the DRAW here, but what is the Duchesse without pearls?

Your posts have me thinking of ways to reinvent my jewelry in my retirement life. I believe pearls are your favorite and I have enjoyed seeing new ways to wear them.
I also have been looking for a new scent and would love to be included in the DRAW. Thank you.

Jane said…
Your previous tips drew me to perfumniche.com, and I ordered several scents I really enjoyed, so thank you! I wear a scent every day, even if I'm only working in the yard, and I'd love to be included in the DRAW. If pearls are considered a gem, I think it's obvious those are your favorite.

What a lovely floral DRAW to celebrate Spring. In my Vancouver island garden I have a beautiful pink magnolia tree in flower. Tubs of daffodils and narcissi nodding their gorgeous heads on the patio. How lucky we are. I too share a love of PEARLS with the Duchesse. Thank you once again for a fabulous blog and a chance to evoke Spring year round.

This DRAW comes at the perfect time -- none of my old favorite scents feel, or smell, right to me anymore and I am on the lookout for something new. I usually stay away from strongly floral scents, but perhaps it is time to revisit?

Always look forward to your posts, they are full of wisdom and wit and astute observation. And thank you for your encouragement and guidance in my PEARL renovation!

Duchesse,
I would love to be included in the DRAW FOR THE FLORA FRAGRANCE PAK.
We share a love of PEARLS. I love scent but definitely consider it a splurge. The last time I purchased a bottle of perfume was for my daughter for her wedding. That was five years ago.

Duchesse,

I consider your blog a "pearl" in my day so I know that pearls are your favorite gems. I have purchased from the lovely ladies at Perfumniche recently at your suggestion and learned about the DRAW down in each beautiful scent.

Warm evenings and sunny days bring thousands of blooming poppies here in the desert southwest of the United States-wish you could see them!

Thank you for sharing your insights and joys with us!

It would be so lovely to win the scent of violets. It is one that wafted through hot summer days spent with my dear grandmother in New Orleans, Louisiana, pre-air conditioning. She would splash from her bottle of 1411 (I think that was the number it was called) cologne, put on her hat, white gloves and off we would go to lunches as "Maison Blanche" and fabric shopping. Other times we would visit her club where she and other Southern ladies would play bridge under large umbrellas and try to keep cool in the shade. Yes, this perfume would once again connect me to her unique and lovely scent, one that haunts me sweetly to this day.

What a lovely draw! We don’t have lilacs where I live now, made me nostalgic. And, of course, your favourite gem - pearls!

Unknown @ April 2 8:35: Of course I am going to recommend Kojima Pearl, a short jaunt away in San Rafael. (You could visit and then work by Skype.) As for others, suggest you visit The Gallery of Jewels (locations in Noe Valley and Pacific Hights) becasue they reprresent many artists and you could see whose work you like, then contact them regarding your project.

I deeply admire Shibumi Gallery but it depends on your style.

For draw, please give me your name (or a pseudonym) as there is more than one Unknown entrant.

Unknown @ April 4, 1:23: Draws as Unknown are tricky as anyone could claim your place, so please enter again, as Unknown is OK but add a first name. Many thanks!
