So I'm writing because I just wanted to say I thoroughly enjoyed this post. It's so easy to write about fashion and jewellery and generate a lot of response but posts like these are of a more introspective nature. I usually don't respond when I have nothing to add but I feel it's important to encourage more and just wanted to put it on the record.coffeeaddicthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08719243899202995984noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2872918251244874644.post-16276291186552661782011-09-23T08:57:25.423-04:002011-09-23T08:57:25.423-04:00C.: Thank you for mentioning The Swerve, will get ...C.: Thank you for mentioning The Swerve, will get it.

Susan Tiner: I keep a subscription because there's still so much worth reading-and can dip into the cartoons and postpone reading till a quiet weekend.Duchessehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09986153653120526776noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2872918251244874644.post-26059187006116154452011-09-22T15:00:55.547-04:002011-09-22T15:00:55.547-04:00Very interesting, I'll see if I can borrow tha...Very interesting, I'll see if I can borrow that issue from a friend as we stopped the subscription several months ago -- not enough time to keep up with it!Susan Tinerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11900811284963063686noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2872918251244874644.post-51849791725668369512011-09-22T14:23:04.382-04:002011-09-22T14:23:04.382-04:00Laura: Thanks for this reference.

I heard Greenblatt interviewed on the subject recently, and was struck by how fresh and appealing the poetry and philosophy of Lucretius sound today. The idea that one can enjoy a sense of wonder and live a life of decency without religiosity feels absolutely right and necessary for our time.

C.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2872918251244874644.post-16891932357335073792011-09-22T13:13:59.108-04:002011-09-22T13:13:59.108-04:00Perfect.
